Hex Nuts & Heavy Hex Nuts
Metric hex nuts and ASTM heavy hex nuts should be specified by both dimensional standard and material/property requirement. Nut grade, thread, coating and mating bolt or stud are confirmed together.
STANDARD FAMILIESDIN 934 / ISO 4032 DIN 971 → ISO 8673 ASTM A194
Do Not Mix Dimension Standards with Material Grades
DIN 971-1 was a fine-pitch hex nut standard and has been withdrawn. ISO 8673 is a current replacement family for style 1 fine-pitch hex nuts.
Material and mechanical property grades such as 2H, 8 and 8M. Heavy hex dimensions are specified separately by the applicable dimensional standard or project requirement.
