Product Details

Press Rivet Nut is selected for a threaded fixing in a sheet-metal assembly. Confirm the clinching type and approved geometry, sheet thickness and hardness, mounting hole and installation access before selection. Press-installed self-clinching nuts and blind rivet nuts use different installation methods; do not substitute one for the other from the name alone. PEM is a manufacturer brand reference; any required branded part or equivalence must be separately confirmed against an identified part number and drawing. The current supply reference is Approved product drawing / specified clinching-nut type, with Carbon Steel / Stainless Steel, Zinc Plated / Nickel Plated / Plain, and M2-M12 /Customized.

Final dimensions, tolerances, grade or class, coating system, matched components, inspection documents and packing must be confirmed against the purchase order, approved drawing or project specification before production.

Selection & Use Steps

  1. Confirm the required clinching-nut type, identified part number or approved product drawing; distinguish it from a blind rivet nut.
  2. Specify thread and tolerance, clinching geometry, sheet material, sheet thickness and sheet hardness.
  3. Confirm mounting-hole size and tolerance, edge distance, nearby bends and access for the specified installation tooling.
  4. For a press-installed self-clinching type, use suitable punch and anvil support and the product-specific installation procedure.
  5. Confirm installed thread condition and any required pushout or torque-out acceptance checks against the approved assembly specification.

Technical Drawing

Specify thread series and tolerance, nut envelope, shank or clinching geometry, mounting-hole size and tolerance, sheet thickness, sheet material and hardness, and required hole-to-edge distance.

Show nearby bends, tooling access and punch/anvil support. Confirm the identified product drawing and installation method; a similar appearance does not establish interchangeability with a branded part or blind rivet nut.

Application Environment

Selection depends on the sheet material, thickness and hardness, clinching type, installation access and intended assembly loads. Review vibration, moisture, chemicals, temperature and corrosion, including compatibility between the fastener and sheet.

Installed retention depends on the selected product and sheet preparation. Confirm required pushout and torque-out performance through applicable product data or assembly testing; no universal retention value is stated.

Installation & Handling Precautions

  • Confirm whether the specified product is a press-installed self-clinching nut or a blind rivet nut before choosing tooling.
  • Check sheet thickness and hardness, mounting-hole tolerance and edge distance against the identified product instructions.
  • For a press-installed self-clinching type, keep punch and anvil contact surfaces parallel and support the sheet with the specified tooling.
  • Use the product-specific installation force and seating procedure; do not select a generic force or use bolt tightening as an installation method.
  • Inspect seating, sheet deformation, thread condition and required retention checks before accepting the assembly.

RFQ Checklist

  • Press Rivet Nut type, identified part number and approved product drawing
  • Thread size, pitch and tolerance; nut and clinching geometry
  • Sheet material, thickness and hardness
  • Mounting-hole size and tolerance, edge distance and nearby bends
  • Installation method, tooling access and required installed retention checks
  • Required material and finish, quantity, packing and destination
  • If a branded part or equivalent is required, identify the manufacturer, part number and acceptance documents for separate confirmation
